Franck Sorbier actually did take the fashion world to a circus. The Cirque d’Hiver was the venue for the story of a sleeping beauty (in the form of the French pop singer Shy’m) who dreamed of woodland nymphs and gnomes. This rather repetitive collection of autumnal shaded ensembles, crafted mostly out of compressed and handpainted fabrics, had a childlike charm, especially the matching footwear and pointy hats. But as a designer who is known for his adventurous artisanal style, it was a shame that those talents weren’t more on display.
